Get Started with ML Hub 3

Overview

Magic Leap Hub 3 groups useful developer tools and utilities in one convenient place. Resources that are part of the Magic Leap Hub (ML Hub) 3 include:

  • Device management (including OS and packages)
  • Apps
  • Video/image capture
  • Streaming
  • Rendering
  • Logs for troubleshooting
  • Settings
  • Commandline
  • Documentation

Application Simulator and Device Bridge are not available through Magic Leap Hub 3.

This section walks through how to get started with Magic Leap Hub 3.

Install Magic Leap Hub 3

To install the Magic Leap Hub 3, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the Downloads tab in the Developer Portal.

  2. After you download the hub, launch the installer and follow the instructions.

When installation completes, you are ready to connect your device to your new hub.

Enable Developer Mode on Your Magic Leap 2 Device

Before connecting your device to your computer, you need to enable developer mode and USB debug mode. Follow the instructions in the Enable Developer Mode guide.

When you complete the steps, you're ready to connect your device to Magic Leap Hub 3.

Connect Your Magic Leap 2 Device to Your Computer

If you previously had everything configured for the Magic Leap Hub 2.0, you can connect using Wi-Fi. To do that, open ML Hub 3, click Device > Connect to a Device > Wi-Fi to connect.

To connect to your computer for the first time, do the following:

  1. Plug a USB-C cable into your Magic Leap 2 Compute Pack and connect the other end to your computer.

  2. When everything is connected, on your headset, you may be prompted to choose the type of USB connection. Choose File Transfer/ML Hub Connectivity Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) and click OK. You're also asked whether to allow USB debugging. Choose Allow.

  3. Open ML Hub 3. Your device is connected and you can see it in ML Hub 3.

You're now ready to start using the features available in ML Hub 3.
