Stream
Stream lets you initiate and view a live video stream from your connected device in The Hub. Stream differs from Capture in a few ways. The Stream view allows you to record video and capture photos of the video stream from your device, just like Capture does. Note that the recording quality in Stream is limited to 1080p resolution and is dependent upon the quality of your internet connection. If your internet connection is slow, you may see degraded quality in the streaming video. If you want to record video or photos with higher quality (up to 4K resolution) or if you want to include audio in your video recordings, try using Capture instead.
This section walks through starting a stream from your device to Magic Leap Hub 3.
Start a Stream
When you navigate to the Stream view, the video stream from your connected device is automatically initiated. This triggers a prompt in your Headset informing you of a New Connection Request coming from The Hub. Select Accept and your video stream will start in The Hub.
If you don't want to be asked to accept the New Connection Request each time you visit Stream, check the "Don't ask again for 30 days" option. Your video stream will now start automatically the next time you visit Stream. After 30 days, you will be asked to accept the New Connection Request again. You can always check the "Don't ask again for 30 days" to automatically accept the New Connection Request for another 30 days.
If you want to stream using the prompt, or save the don't ask again choice without streaming, on the headset click Ok.
You can now choose to stream video by clicking the video icon button to start recording the video stream sent from the device to the hub, or take a photo by clicking the camera icon button. These choices appear as part of the toolbar across the top of the Stream view.
After you click Ok in your headset, your device begins displaying what you see through the headset in the Stream view. Depending on the icon you click, you can either start capturing a video or a photo. If you want to stop displaying what you see, you can turn it off by clicking the blue outlined square icon.
You can use the icons at the top of the screen to change how your stream appears. Click the four arrows pointing in different directions icon to make your stream full screen.
Click the folder icon with the down pointing arrow to open your Captures folder and view your capture as its happening.
You can end your stream at any time by clicking the red stop icon at the top of the screen. Your stream stops, but you can still see everything through your headset in the Stream view.
You can also mute sound by clicking the icon that looks like a megaphone.
To make your device stop showing what you see through the headset in the window, click the icon that's furthest to the left. When everything stops, you see a blue play icon.
Configure Stream Settings
You can configure the settings for your stream using the options on the right.
Stream
In the Stream section of the Stream Settings, you can change the aspect ratio and resolution quality of your stream using the drop-downs.
- Aspect Ratio - 4:3 or 9:10
- Resolution - 720p or 1080p
Content
In the Content section, you can choose what you see through your headset. Pick between:
- Real World and Virtual - a mix of real world and virtual content.
- Real World Only - only real world information shows in the headset.
- Virtual Only - only virtual content shows in the headset.
Timing
If you wish, you can set a timer to countdown before your stream starts. You can choose from:
- None
- 3 seconds
- 5 seconds
Image Adjustment
In the Image Adjustment section of the Stream Settings you can change opacity, exposure compensation, global dimming, and the white balance. For opacity, exposure compensation, and global dimming, slide the blue dot on the bar for the setting until it looks the way you want in your stream.
For white balance, click the icons to see how your stream will change if you use that setting. Use the circle with a slash through it if you decide you don't want to use any white balance filter.
